Fielding a question from the audience about the possibility of a 7in Surface tablet, the answer certainly wasn't no. "We're really set up [for making a 7in tablet]" Klein responded. "The notion of flexibility and the scalability of the operating system is actually intrinsic to our vision and our strategy.

"We talk a lot about devices and services, and when we say devices and services, we mean a set of experiences that are complete, that are compelling, and that are consistent across a whole range of form factors and devices, including size of form factor. [In Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Phone 8] you have the same core code base driving form factors from 4in all the way up to 27in all-in-ones and everything in-between.

"I think we’re really set up to deliver the most versatile set of experiences across form factors, whether that’s 4in, 5in, 7in, 8in, 10in, 13in - and along with our partners in the ecosystem, we’ll work through that based on underlying demand."

That last reference to ecosystem partners suggests that Microsoft may be allowing its software licensees to sniff out the market for a 7in Windows tablet first before taking the plunge itself - but the company would certainly consider such a device. In such a small form factor, however, it would likely be restricted to the ARM-compatible Windows RT operating system found in its Surface RT tablets, rather than the Windows 8 platform from its Intel-powered Surface Pro devices.

With Microsoft claiming its Surface tablets are enjoying strong sales, despite reports of poor supply hampering availability of the Surface Pro and cut component orders pointing to overestimated demand for the Surface RT, the tablet market appears to be poised to grow yet again.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Tablet PCs Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Tablet PC Reviews Dell XPS 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £550 Acer Iconia W700 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £593 Google Nexus 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £319 Apple iPad 4 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £399 Apple iPad Mini Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £269 Latest Tablet PC News HP TouchPad successor based on Android planned Nokia Windows 8 tablet possibly snapped Microsoft Surface Pro gets BlueStacks Android App support Surface Pro stylus compatibility issues discovered 128GB Surface Pro tablet sells out iPad Mini 2 release date, features and price rumours Microsoft hints at Surface Pro battery accessory Wikipad gaming tablet launches in the US, soon to reach the UK Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Mini announced Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; The more expensive model has received a speed bump up to 2.6GHz in the shape of a new Intel processor, and will cost £1,449 for 256GB of solid state storage.

This price drop puts the entry-level Retina model in direct competition with the regular 13in MacBook Pro - the higher resolution laptop might have a slower CPU, but it matches the MacBook for memory and has a solid state disk instead of a slower mechanical hard disk. Intel's integrated graphics admittedly struggle to run games at the native 2,560x1,600 resolution, and in Apple's scaled mode you get less physical desktop space, but the Retina model has a clear advantage when it comes to editing photos.

The larger 15in MacBook Pro Retina has also received an upgrade, gaining a faster 2.4GHz quad-core processor in the entry-level model for £1,799 and a 2.7GHz quad-core chip in the top-end model, which now comes with 16GB of RAM for £2,299.

Finally, The ultra-thin MacBook Air 13in was also reduced today, meaning Apple fans can now pick one up with 256GB of flash memory for £1,199.

The new prices went into effect at lunchtime, with the Apple store already updated for anyone eager to spend their cash.
Author: Tom Morgan
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Laptops Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Laptop Reviews Dell XPS 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £550 Acer Iconia W700 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £593 Acer Aspire S7 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £985 MSI GX60 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £1,043 Toshiba Satellite U920t-108 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £897 Latest Laptop News Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook gets 1080p display option Acer to take on Apple's retina MacBooks with high-resolution laptops Samsung Series 7 Chronos review - Hands on Samsung Series 7 Ultra review – hands on Intel reveals 4th generation Core Ultrabook requirements Lenovo IdeaPad Lynx review - Hands On MSI reveals Slider 20 hybrid ultrabook at CES 2013 Sony NEX-6, Barnes and Noble Nook HD, BT YouView - reviews roundup Nikon 1 J2, Asus VivoBook S200, Samsung Chromebook Series 3 - reviews roundup Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; So save this page and keep checking back for regular updates

HTC is mere days away from revealing its latest flagship smartphone, which is expected to be known as either the HTC M7 or HTC One (something). We've heard plenty of rumours and leaks over the past few weeks, which we've collected here.

HTC M7 NAME
Although initial leaks referred to the device as the M7, HTC CEO Peter Chou mentioned the HTC One name when he revealed the handset early at an internal company event in Taipei. Engadget spotted the video and translated his comments, which hinted at a possible name change.

Should HTC stick with the One branding, it could confuse customers who already have to choose between the One X, One X+, One S, One SV, One V and One XL.

HTC M7 SCREEN
It was originally anticipated that the M7 would have a 5in display, putting it on par with the Sony Xperia Z, Huawei Ascend D2 and ZTE Grand S, but a new wave of rumours have pointed to a 4.7in screen - the same size as the One X and One X+. However, it is expected to have a Full HD 1080p resolution - giving it more pixels per inch than the competition.

HTC has used AMOLED display technology in the past, but made the switch to super LCD a few years ago. The M7 is expected to continue this trend, although we won't know for sure until the official unveiling.

HTC M7 DESIGN
Several images purporting to be the M7 have appeared online in the run up to the phone's official launch, but as we get closer to release the leaks are becoming more consistent. Original leaks from Pocketnow suggested the M7 will closely resemble the Windows Phone 8-powered HTC 8X, with rounded corners and and a smooth curved rear, but newer photos, courtesy of twitter user @evleaks, show a sleek metal body with machined speaker grilles and two hardware buttons instead of the usual three.

one of the early renders, showing a similarity to the HTC 8X

A newer image, which shows an altogether different design

Leaks from different sources have revealed two potential colours - black and gunmetal silver. There may be others to follow, but it could be a sign that HTC has given up on the matt plastic finish it used for the One series of phones.

HTC M7 OPERATING SYSTEM
The pre-release images seen above also give us a possible early glimpse at the latest iteration of HTC's Sense interface. It shows a more streamlined, minimalist layout with monotone widgets and a redesigned set of icons. There also appears to be large, rectangular shortcut icons that are reminiscent of the Live Tiles interface found on Windows Phone 8.

Although most early leaks have pointed to Android Jelly Bean, there's no clue as to whether it will be 4.1 or 4.2. With Google saving the latest version of its operating system for its own Nexus-branded devices, we would be surprised if HTC had managed to secure version 4.2 in time for an expected March release.

HTC M7 CAMERA
When HTC released an infographic hinting at a "new sound and camera experience" for 2013, it added to rumours the company was working on a new camera that will use Ultrapixel technology.

The bottom of HTC's infographic, teasing something new for 2013

Ultrapixel technology apparently uses multiple sensors to combine several shots into one for the best possible image. This pixel sampling technology could mean better low light photography, high resolution images or more detailed, smaller resolution ones - we'll have to wait to see what HTC confirms before we'll know for sure, but it looks to be competition for Nokia's Pureview camera.

HTC M7 PROCESSOR AND 4G
Although HTC used two different processors for the American and International One X handset (due to LTE/4G compatibility), rumours are pointing to a single CPU for the M7. It is likely to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip running at 1.7GHz, along with 2GB of RAM to power whichever version of Android HTC opts to use. Such a chipset would ensure support for 4G networks in the UK.

HTC M7 STORAGE
If HTC stays true to form, the M7 will likely come with 32GB of internal storage but lack any form of MicroSD card expansion. Both previous flagship handsets, the One X and One X+, only had internal storage, and we don't expect this to change with the new model.

HTC M7 PRICE
As a Full HD smartphone, we fully expect the M7 to enter at the top end of the smartphone market. With similar phones costing upwards of £450, HTC will probably follow suit rather than try and undercut the competition.

HTC M7 RELEASE DATE
HTC posted a countdown clock to its US homepage last week, with the timer counting towards the launch event on the 19th of February. We'll give you hands-on coverage of the handset on the day of launch.

HTC needs to get its new flagship on sale as quickly as possible, as it faces stiff competition from the likes of Sony's Xperia Z which goes on sale on the 28th of February. Mobile World Congress is also right around the corner, and both Samsung and Google are expected to announce their new handsets at events in the coming months. As required in many countries by telecom regulators, an iPhone allows a user to make a call to one of a list of official emergency numbers - such as 911 in the US and 999 in the UK - without entering the phone's passcode. Entering the hack is a somewhat laborious process - involving holding the power button, making a call to an emergency number but cancelling it before it goes through, holding the power button again and tapping the emergency call option as quickly as possible - but still represents a serious breach in security.

While only affecting the iPhone 5 and prior models running iOS 6.1, and not the iPad, iPad Mini or iPod Touch, it's still a serious issue that Apple needs to resolve.

In mitigation, the bypass doesn't allow full access to the handset or its installed applications. It does, however, allow the attacker to make calls to any arbitrary number, access contact details and browse the on-device photo roll.

Meanwhile, users are still reporting issues with the

iPhone 4S draining its battery and losing 3G connections, even after installing the iOS 6.1.1 update specifically designed to address these problems. With the issue serious enough for Vodafone to issue a warning against installing iOS 6.1, it's looking like upgrading any iPhone 4S from iOS 6.0 is a bad idea until a further patch can be developed.

Apple has stated that it is investigating the software issues in iOS and will deliver a fix in a future update, but declined to give a firm time scale for its release.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Smartphones Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Smartphone Reviews HTC Windows Phone 8S Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Nokia Lumia 620 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Sony Xperia U Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £182 Google Nexus 4 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £0 Apple iPhone 5 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £529 Latest Smartphone News HTC M7 release date, features and price rumours Qualcomm details Quick Charge technology - almost a year after launch iPhone 5S release date, features & price rumours Motorola X Phone already impressing industry executives Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Samsung Galaxy S4 could launch alongside smaller S4 Mini Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now on sale in the US Android 4.2.2 rolling out for Nexus smartphones and tablets iOS 6.1.1 released for iPhone 4S to fix 3G connectivity bug Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; While that gives it compatibility with existing applications, few of these are optimised for a tablet interface - expecting the user to be interacting with the software using a keyboard and mouse instead.

By contrast, Android applications are developed specifically for touch-screen devices. Although originally created for smartphones, Android has since become the leading alternative to Apple's popular iOS in the tablet market - meaning there are plenty of apps available for the platform that play nicely on larger-screen devices.

The new BlueStacks Player Optimised for Surface Pro aims to bring the two together: installing the software on a Surface Pro allows access to Android applications on the device, which run at full speed and with access to the tablet's touch-screen interface. Popular applications available for Android but not for Windows include word game Scramble with Friends, the Pulse newsreader app, communications apps KakaoTalk and Viber, and even Instagram.

Using BlueStacks Player, these apps install and operate on the Surface Pro - immediately boosting the number of touch-oriented applications available for Microsoft's fledgling tablet line, bringing it more in line with rival devices from Apple and Google.

The release comes as Microsoft promises to address stock issues that have seen the 128GB Surface Pro model sell out inthe US, with the company claiming it will have more stock of the device in stores by this weekend. The 64GB model, meanwhile, remains available - largely thanks to a very small amount of usable storage space.

The BlueStacks Player for Surface Pro can be downloaded from the company's official site, alongside the existing Windows and Mac versions.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Tablet PCs Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Tablet PC Reviews Dell XPS 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £550 Acer Iconia W700 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £593 Google Nexus 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £319 Apple iPad 4 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £399 Apple iPad Mini Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £269 Latest Tablet PC News Surface Mini tablet a possibility, according to Microsoft CFO HP TouchPad successor based on Android planned Nokia Windows 8 tablet possibly snapped Surface Pro stylus compatibility issues discovered 128GB Surface Pro tablet sells out iPad Mini 2 release date, features and price rumours Microsoft hints at Surface Pro battery accessory Wikipad gaming tablet launches in the US, soon to reach the UK Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Mini announced Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; However, that's exactly what XFX has managed with the Pro 850W XXX Edition.

This model is 80 Plus Silver certified, which guarantees efficiencies of at least 85 per cent. If you're looking for a better price online, make sure you use the right part code, as XFX also sells an 80 Plus Bronze supply with the same name.

The supply did very well in our tests, with no problems detected. It also proved itself to be efficient beyond its specification, managing 86.25 per cent at 100 per cent load, 88.64 per cent at 50 per cent load and 87.07 per cent at 20 per cent load. Considering the price of the supply, that's impressive.

This excellent-value PSU manages to beat its 80 Plus Silver certification for efficiency

As the supply is 160mm deep, there's room inside for a 135mm fan, which can shift more air at lower speeds than a 120mm fan. It was certainly quiet in our tests, with only a tiny bit of coil noise when we listened very carefully. Installed in a case under your desk, you're not going to hear anything.

It's a modular design with the only captive cables for the motherboard, CPU and two 6+2-pin PCI Express connectors. You can add to these with eight Molex, eight SATA and two more 6+2-pin PCI Express plugs. In other words, there's plenty for a high-end PC.

Giving the excellent balance of price, efficiency and flexibility, the XFX Pro 850W XXX Edition wins a Best Buy award.
Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-13434760355765625272013-02-22T01:30:00.000-08:002013-02-22T01:30:03.583-08:00Acer Iconia W700 Review Date: 15 Feb 2013
Price when reviewed: £593
Supplier: http://www.dabs.com/
Reviewed By: Tom Morgan

The Acer Iconia W700 is a 11.6in tablet running Windows 8, but unlike some other tablets the W700 runs the full version of Microsoft's latest OS rather than the cut-down RT edition. This means you can install any Windows application and control it using the touchscreen; you aren’t limited to using apps downloaded from the Windows store.

The front may be dominated by a touchscreen and a reasonably slim black bezel, but it's the aluminium frame that catches the eye. The W700 has curved edges, speaker grilles and connection ports that have been machine-cut with precision, giving it a real high-end appearance. It's sleek, despite being 13mm thick, and it’s comfortable to hold. It weighs just over 900g, but it's still light enough to use as a tablet.

It has a single USB3 port, along with a 3.5mm headset audio jack and a Micro HDMI port, but there’s no card reader for adding extra storage beyond the internal 64GB solid state disk. If you want to use extra connections you must dock the tablet to its bundled cradle. Disappointingly, the cradle is built entirely out of plastic and has none of the tablet's premium feel. The stand on the back can be adjusted to change orientation and the dock has three USB3 ports, but it's a fairly tacky addition considering how good the tablet itself feels.

The bundled plastic Bluetooth keyboard is little better. The keys are Chiclet-style and have very limited travel, although they spring back into place quickly. We would’ve preferred a combined keyboard dock, such as those produced by Asus and Dell rather than have a separate keyboard.

It's a shame, as the W700 is otherwise a great Windows 8 tablet. The 1,920x1,080-resolution display is ideally suited to watching Full HD video or editing high-resolution photos, and you’ll be able to use powerful photo-editing applications because it runs Windows 8.

The W700’s low-voltage Core i3 processor might be a Sandy Bridge model from 2011, but it still completed our multimedia benchmarks with an overall score of 24. The dual-core i3-2365M runs at 1.4GHz, supports Hyper-Threading and is paired with 4GB of RAM, so even though it was never going to compare well to the desktop-class Ivy Bridge chip used in our reference PC, it can still handle everyday tasks such as web browsing and word processing.

The i3-2367M uses HD 3000 graphics. As you might expect, this means the W700 isn't suited to gaming; it failed our Dirt Showdown test with a jerky average frame rate of 12.1fps. You’ll be able to play Flash games and older, less demanding titles, but this tablet’s best suited to multimedia playback.
Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-87113119330385153462013-02-21T21:21:00.000-08:002013-02-21T21:21:00.459-08:00Wacom Intuos 5 Touch Tablet
The Intuos 5 Touch is one of Wacom’s professional graphics tablets. They’re a step up from Wacom’s more consumer-orientated Bamboo tablets, with eight express keys and a multifunctional concave Touch Ring to help creative individuals get the best out of their digital artwork.

It’s very easy to set up, and we were using it within minutes of plugging it in and installing the necessary drivers. It can be rotated to suit left-handed or right-handed artists, too, providing a good degree of convenience. The soft-touch finish round the outside also made it very comfortable to use. The main surface is slightly harder, but its texture provides enough friction to make it feel as if you’re drawing on paper, making the Intuous 5 feel much more natural in use. The pen is pressure sensitive, so you can taper your strokes, finishing with a thin wisp or a hard blob regardless of which nib you’re using.

The pen has 2,048 different pressure levels, a 60-degree tilt and is accurate. It also has a very welcome rubbery grip and comes with a stand that can to store up to 10 nibs. You get 10 with the tablet (standard, flex, felt and stroke), but you can buy extra pens directly from Wacom.

Despite the main tablet area measuring 278x196mm, the active area for drawing is only 224x140mm, leaving around one-third of the tablet out of bounds. This felt slightly counter-intuitive at first, but we soon got used to it. You can also connect the Intuos 5 wirelessly to your PC, but you’ll have to buy the Wacom Wireless Accessory Kit (£35 from http://uk.shop.wacom.eu) to enable this feature.

A key feature of the Intuos 5 is the Touch Ring. This allows you to scroll or zoom in, cycle through layers, alter your brush size and rotate your images by rolling your finger round the outer ring. You can press the centre to toggle between each mode, but we had a few issues with its overall responsiveness. We had to tweak quite a few individual settings to get the right sensitivity, but the main problem was the lack of tactile feedback. It made adjusting brush sizes by a few pixels or changing layers a little too fussy, and we often found ourselves using the pen instead.

It's a great tablet, and capable of far more than our game-enthused doodlings

It also made the eight customisable express keys quite difficult to press. They’re capacitive buttons, so they’ll sense your fingers hovering over them and show you each function on screen.

Drawing isn’t the only thing you can do with the Intuos 5, though, as it supports multi-touch gestures like a laptop’s touchpad. Touch control wasn’t quite as fluid as we’d like it to be, but it’s handy having a built-in touchpanel rather than having to use a separate one. Pinch-zooming was temperamental, but two-finger scrolling worked beautifully.

The Intuos 5 is a great graphics tablet. The Touch Ring isn’t perfect, but the tablet itself is one of the best around. However, if all you want is a basic graphics tablet for drawing, you may be better off with one of Wacom’s cheaper Bamboo tablets.
Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-44470585096851921892013-02-21T16:21:00.000-08:002013-02-21T16:21:00.177-08:00Aliens: Colonial Marines
Colonial Marines has been in development for seven years. As the game is based on one of the most famous sci-fi film franchises of all time, expectations were high that developer Gearbox would deliver a tense and atmospheric action shooter that could live up to James Cameron’s blockbuster. Unfortunately, the end result is a catastrophic, buggy mess that will not only disappoint film fans, but gamers everywhere.

The plot, which takes place between the events of Aliens and Alien 3, had potential. As one of the titular Colonial Marines, players are tasked with investigating the U.S.S. Sulaco – the starship that carried Ripley back towards Earth and the end of the second film. It has somehow reappeared in orbit over planet LV-426, where the Aliens were first discovered, which in itself is sure to confuse fans of the franchise. It’s the first of many questions that go unanswered through the incredibly short campaign, leaving you to make your own assumptions.

As you might imagine when acid-spitting Xenomorphs are involved, the mission quickly descends into anarchy and you’re left to find a way to escape, dodging facehuggers and fighting soliders sent by the sinister Weyland Yutani Corporation to harvest the Alien eggs. Cue four to six hours of fairly monotonous blasting, heavily scripted set-piece events and some of the buggiest gameplay we’ve experienced for quite some time.

The girl in front dies. There, I saved you four hours

With a significant portion of the game spent shooting at humans, rather than Xenos, Colonial Marines often feels like a dimly-lit, futuristic Call of Duty clone – never more so when you reach the upgrade screen at the end of a mission and have the option to add red dot sights, silencers and laser sights to the iconic M41A pulse rifle. This is verging on sacrilege to fans of the films, and adds nothing to the gameplay. Each weapon, though faithfully modelled on the props from the film, is woefully inaccurate, with no connection between where you aim and where your bullets end up. They sometimes even fail to register altogether, meaning enemies take an inconsistent number of bullets to go down. Conversely, CPU-controlled enemies can sometimes shoot you through walls, while you can hit an alien in the chest with a shotgun mid-leap but it won't fall over until the landing animation has played out.

The motion tracker is pointless when 99% of Xenos run right at you

The Alien AI in general is shockingly bad, with Aliens frequently losing track of you and simply freezing in place while the pathfinding tries to recover. The limited set of animations make it difficult to tell when an enemy is down and out, or simply recoiling from a flesh wound. There’s no penalty for attacking Xenos from point-blank range, which you would expect to be met with a shower of acidic blood, and they do so little damage with their attacks that you can literally run through entire levels without having to stand your ground and fight them back.

Human opponents don’t fare any better, with enemy soldiers frequently getting stuck in their cover animations, refusing to budge until you move to a different part of the level. They at least put up more of a fight, but regenerating health and an abundance of armour pickups mean there’s never much of a challenge.

Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-58212957073736427932013-02-21T13:09:00.000-08:002013-02-21T13:09:00.505-08:00Cygnett Enigma iPad Mini Case
Cygnett's Enigma iPad Mini case protects the front and back of Apple's tiny tablet with its moulded plastic rear and flip-over front cover. It doesn't add significantly to the bulk of the tablet, so it's still perfectly suited to slipping in and out of a bag. The front cover has a felt finish to protect the screen, but it can't turn the screen on and off when you open it.

Available in a range of colours, including baby blue, hot pink and a more reserved black, the Enigma is reasonably priced. It's more expensive than more basic covers, but it's still cheaper than Apple's official cover and provides rear protection too.

Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-86571286929502526672013-02-21T09:05:00.000-08:002013-02-21T09:05:00.244-08:00Nokia Windows 8 tablet possibly snapped Nokia Windows 8 tablet possibly snapped | Expert Reviews
Skip to navigation Home Laptops PCs Components Printers Digital cameras Photography Displays Networking Storage Audio Home entertainment Mobile phones Video cameras Software Gadgets Peripherals Tablet PCs Car Tech Home / Tablet PCs / News Login|Register Log In Your email: Your password:
Remember me

Create an account
RSS Feeds News | Forum | Store Windows Phone Kodak Printers Smarter Kuga Latest News Nokia Windows 8 tablet possibly snapped Gallery Posted on 13 Feb 2013 at 10:38

Eagle-eyed photographers at a Nokia event in Pakistan may have snapped the latest image of the long-rumoured Nokia Lumia tablet running Windows 8 - most probably Windows RT.

Images from the Pakistan launch event for the cut-price Lumia 620 and publicised by Nokia Gadgets show a tablet device running the tile-based Windows 8 user interface, sat next to a Lumia smartphone and an HDTV.

It's not the first we've heard about Nokia's plans to branch out from the smartphone market - company design chief Marko Ahtisaari mentioned he was spending a third of his time on tablet development in an interview back in March 2012, and Digitimes reported in December that Nokia has postponed development of a 10in tablet when Microsoft announced its own Surface RT.

Nokia's success in the Windows Phone ecosystem is undeniable: its Lumia smartphones have shot the company from last place in the market to becoming the top Windows Phone maker in the world with a 33.1 per cent share - buyers are even opting to purchase its flagship Lumia 920 handset over the rival Apple iPhone 5 - thanks largely to vastly superior support for non-US Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G networks.

Nokia, for its part, has not commented on the image, but the company has form in the tablet market: its Maemo operating system powered early tablet-like devices known as the the Nokia Internet Tablet family. The ARM-powered devices, starting with the Internet Tablet 770 in 2005, were compact pocket-sized devices with touch-screen interfaces and, while not a commercial success, helped define the company's plans for the Lumia family.

A return to the tablet market could be good for Nokia: while a competitive market, the success of its Lumia smartphone range has given the company a badly-needed boost - but this time it will have to compete with strategic partner Microsoft for sales, rather than being the flag-carrier for the Windows brand.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Tablet PCs Next > User comments Read this:
This article should be updated. Despite a few hiccoughs along the way, including hardware and software glitches and a lack of stock, the device has proved solidly popular thanks to a high specification at a surprisingly low cost.

The Nexus 4 is expected to get some competition from Google's own Motorola subsidiary, however: leaked specifications suggest that the Motorola X Phone will ship with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, a next-generation version of the mobile operating system with entirely new features, along with weatherproofing, a smash-proof Kevlar casing, and a high-capacity battery for multi-day run times.

According to an anonymous Motorola source speaking to Australian technology site Smarthouse, the X Phone will include unique tweaks not available on any other device. "It has software features and capabilities that are not available on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or Apple iPhone", the source claimed. "The software is really powerful and it pulls together Google services like no other manufacturer has done in the past."

The site also quotes Hugh Bradlow, chief technology officer for Australian mobile network Telstra, as stating that the Motorola X Phone is "a real breakthrough, a game-changer that will put pressure on Samsung and Apple."

Should the device rely on the allure of Android 5.0, however, its glory may be short-lived: the next-generation software will likely remain exclusive to the Motorola X Phone for only a brief period of time, before being made available to Google's own-brand Nexus handsets.

While Google has not commented on the rumours, it is expected to unveil the Motorola X Phone at its developer conference in May ahead of a July retail launch. Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but is likely to be significantly higher than the Nexus 4.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Smartphones Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Smartphone Reviews HTC Windows Phone 8S Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Nokia Lumia 620 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Sony Xperia U Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £182 Google Nexus 4 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £0 Apple iPhone 5 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £529 Latest Smartphone News HTC M7 release date, features and price rumours Qualcomm details Quick Charge technology - almost a year after launch iOS 6.1 lock screen bypass discovered, Apple working on a fix iPhone 5S release date, features & price rumours Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Samsung Galaxy S4 could launch alongside smaller S4 Mini Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now on sale in the US Android 4.2.2 rolling out for Nexus smartphones and tablets iOS 6.1.1 released for iPhone 4S to fix 3G connectivity bug Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; However, they typically come at a significant reduction in specification. The Galaxy S3 Mini, for example, drops the Galaxy S3's quad-core 1.5GHz processor to a more sedate dual-core 1GHz model and the 4.8in 720x1,280 display to a smaller 4in 480x800 panel. Even the rear-facing camera suffers from a drop in quality, going from eight megapixels to five and losing the ability to record in 1080p Full HD.

It's unlikely that this tactic of reducing the performance of the phone at the same time as reducing the cost will change for the Galaxy S4 Mini, but it offers Samsung two bites at the apple: those looking for the most powerful phone on the market will likely consider the Galaxy S3 as their handset of choice, but those on a tighter budget - especially those who have been eyeing up the Nexus 4 - may opt for the Galaxy S3 Mini instead.

SamMobile also points to the possibility of a third device launch, codenamed Project J Active. While no details are yet available, listed accessories include an arm band, bicycle mount and pouch - suggesting either a wearable smartphone or at least a ruggedised model designed for outdoor use.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Smartphones Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Smartphone Reviews HTC Windows Phone 8S Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Nokia Lumia 620 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Sony Xperia U Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £182 Google Nexus 4 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £0 Apple iPhone 5 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £529 Latest Smartphone News HTC M7 release date, features and price rumours Qualcomm details Quick Charge technology - almost a year after launch iOS 6.1 lock screen bypass discovered, Apple working on a fix iPhone 5S release date, features & price rumours Motorola X Phone already impressing industry executives Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now on sale in the US Android 4.2.2 rolling out for Nexus smartphones and tablets iOS 6.1.1 released for iPhone 4S to fix 3G connectivity bug Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; According to Jeffries, the reason behind this is that "suppliers seem to be prepping for iPhone 5S builds to start in March".

In other words, Apple is reducing its orders now, so that it can focus production on its new handset, while reducing the amount of stock it will have to try and shift of the iPhone 5. If the reduction in orders is down to the company getting ready to produce the iPhone 5S in March, then it follows that the phone will go on sale in June.

All this information ties in with another analyst's prediction that the iPhone 5S will look like the iPhone 5. Katy Huberty from Morgan Stanley analysed Apple's SEC filing and noted a reduction in equipment purchases. She inferred from this that the reduction in cost, was because Apple was going to use the very similar components to the iPhone 5, requiring less of an investment than with a brand new phone.

So, it would seem as though this year we'll see the iPhone 5S, while we'll get something completely different with the iPhone 6 next year.
Author: David Ludlow
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Mobile phones Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Mobile phone Reviews HTC Windows Phone 8S Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Nokia Lumia 620 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Sony Xperia U Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £182 Google Nexus 4 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £0 Apple iPhone 5 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £529 Latest Mobile phone News HTC M7 release date, features and price rumours Qualcomm details Quick Charge technology - almost a year after launch iOS 6.1 lock screen bypass discovered, Apple working on a fix iPhone 5S release date, features & price rumours Motorola X Phone already impressing industry executives Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Samsung Galaxy S4 could launch alongside smaller S4 Mini Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now on sale in the US Android 4.2.2 rolling out for Nexus smartphones and tablets Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; Now, it seems that HP is treading the same path: according to sources speaking to ReadWriteWeb, HP will adopt Google's popular mobile platform for a next-generation range of tablets.

Based on Nvidia's latest Tegra 4 mobile processor, a quad-core design that offers significant performance and a powerful graphics processor tweaked for gaming, the new tablet is expected to launch world-wide before the end of the year as the company, under new leadership, seeks to re-enter the market is so dramatically abandoned.

The site's source also points to the possibility of an HP-manufactured Android smartphone, an ironic twist given the company's purchase of smartphone specialist Palm and subsequent closure of that division. HP's chief executive Meg Whitman, however, has denied that a smartphone is planned for 2013 - but has not publicly commented on the possibility of a launch next year.

Should HP choose to customise Google's Android platform with a few of the nicer features of its cancelled webOS project, the burgeoning tablet market could get a seriously powerful competitor.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Tablet PCs Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Tablet PC Reviews Dell XPS 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £550 Acer Iconia W700 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £593 Google Nexus 10 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £319 Apple iPad 4 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £399 Apple iPad Mini Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £269 Latest Tablet PC News Surface Mini tablet a possibility, according to Microsoft CFO Nokia Windows 8 tablet possibly snapped Microsoft Surface Pro gets BlueStacks Android App support Surface Pro stylus compatibility issues discovered 128GB Surface Pro tablet sells out iPad Mini 2 release date, features and price rumours Microsoft hints at Surface Pro battery accessory Wikipad gaming tablet launches in the US, soon to reach the UK Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Mini announced Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; This includes the same dual Freeview HD tuners, HDMI, composite and SCART video outputs, and Ethernet input for internet access.

We were suitably impressed with YouView when it first launched; we called it "Simply the best EPG of any Freeview HD PVR", and that the Humax was "a responsive box and neatly integrated on-demand TV". With the ability to watch anything from the last seven days, across all five major UK television channels, as well as record multiple channels in high definition without having to pay a monthly subscription, there's very little not to like about the service. This new model should live up to the same high standards, but now look the part from the outside as well.

According to Humax, The DTR-T1010 will be available with a 500GB hard disk for £300, or with a 1TB disk for £330, launching today in John Lewis and appearing at other stores in the coming weeks. Interestingly, you can pick up the 1TB model from Richer Sounds right now for £280, some £50 less than the RRP.

We contacted BT to see if they plan on switching over to the DTR-T1010, or will continue to use the older DTR-1000, but at the time of writing we had yet to receive confirmation either way.
Author: Tom Morgan
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Home entertainment Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Home entertainment Reviews Sony BDP-S490 Category: Blu-ray players
Rating:
Price: £80 Humax HDR-1000S Category: PVRs
Rating:
Price: £270 Philips 55PFL6007T Category: TVs
Rating:
Price: £1,499 Teufel Cubycon 2 Category: Home entertainment
Rating:
Price: £1,399 BT YouView Category: PVRs
Rating:
Price: £49 Latest Home entertainment News Intel IPTV set-top box in the works Sonos Playbar review - Hands on Panasonic ZT60 leads 2013 Viera plasma TV line-up Panasonic Smart Viera 2013 features announced iPlayer to premiere TV shows ahead of BBC broadcasts Samsung F8500 LED TV review - Hands on Samsung 4K TV to launch in Europe - price and date Philips sells home entertainment division, sees a future in lifestyle products Sony UK confirms 2013 TV line-up – flagship 55in W9 due in May Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; There's a recess for your thumb just below the two side buttons, one of which acts as an EasyShift toggle that effectively doubles the number of buttons available for setting actions and macros to using the driver software.

The incredible 8,200 DPI seems like overkill for all but the fastest of twitch gamers, as we're used to playing at far lower sensitivities, but the additional buttons certainly came in handy during hectic play sessions. It's slightly smaller than other mice but was still comfortable to use for long periods, with responsive buttons and smooth movement in games.

Despite being much simpler than Roccat's previous mice, the Kone Pure is still more expensive than the Steelseries Sensei RAW Edition mouse, which is more suited for ambidextrous gamers.
Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-20644426233514197632013-02-20T03:51:00.000-08:002013-02-20T03:51:00.309-08:00In Win GreenMe 750W Our Rating

Most PSUs rated at 750W tend to cost over £100 and are generally quite large. The In Win GreenMe 750W bucks both of these trends: it costs just £60 and is only 140mm deep. That's a pretty impressive starting point.

It's immediately clear that to get this incredibly price, In Win has had to reduce the number of features compared to other PSUs. For starters, the PSU uses captive cables, so your case will be cluttered with connectors that you're not using. Not that there are many cables, with just three Molex, six SATA and two 6+2-pin PCI Express. To be fair that range of connectors will suit most PCs with a single high-end graphics card.

Sound was another problem. We found the 120mm fan to be very loud and with some coil noise, too, it's fair to say that this supply was rather intrusive.

Fortunately, performance was rather good in our tests. The GreenMe 750W passed all of our stability tests and showed itself to be very efficient. With efficiency of 85.43 per cent at 100 per cent load, 88.36 per cent at 50 per cent load and 86.87 per cent at 20 per cent load, this PSU is far above the 80 Plus Bronze standard and close to the 80 Plus Silver standard.

It might be cheap, but this PSU comes close to the 80 Plus Silver standard

It's all a matter of what you want. If a stable and efficient 750W PSU at a low price is the most important thing and you can live with the few cables, the In Win GreenMe 750W is an excellent buy. However, if you want more flexibility and a quieter PSU, the XFX Pro 850W XXX Edition is the better buy.
Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-74193256726162068802013-02-19T23:33:00.000-08:002013-02-19T23:33:00.673-08:00Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack | Expert Reviews
Skip to navigation Home Laptops PCs Components Printers Digital cameras Photography Displays Networking Storage Audio Home entertainment Mobile phones Video cameras Software Gadgets Peripherals Tablet PCs Car Tech Home / Mobile phones / Smartphones / News Login|Register Log In Your email: Your password:
Remember me

Create an account
RSS Feeds News | Forum | Store Windows Phone Kodak Printers Smarter Kuga Latest News Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Gallery Posted on 14 Feb 2013 at 09:51

The latest 4.2.2 Android update is now available for Nexus 4 smartphone owners, but those who rely on one or two undocumented features would do well to hold off upgrading.

Android 4.2.2, a minor revision to the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform, launched earlier this week for the Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets, but was notably absent on the Nexus 4, Google's flagship smartphone. This was partly because the update focused on fixing a Bluetooth streaming issue that doesn't affect the Nexus 4 as severely as the rest of the Nexus range - but having its flagship handset on an older software version still seemed strange.

Now, however, Google has released Android 4.2.2 for the Nexus 4, and it comes with an explanation for the delay: extra tweaks not included in the version released for older Nexus devices.

Sadly, not all of these tweaks are of benefit to the consumer. One of the biggest changes exclusive to the Nexus 4 is the removal of an undocumented way to enable Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G support on the purportedly 3G-only handset. By entering a service menu, Nexus 4 owners in certain countries could enable a dormant and unsupported LTE mode in the handset's radio chip - boosting their connection speeds when linked with an LTE-enabled mobile network. In 4.2.2, that feature is gone - likely for good, until third-party developers can work out how to enable it again in a custom version of the software.

The update also changes the way the automatic network proxy system works, which has a knock-on effect on some applications - largely those designed to hide advertisements in the browser. Other features, however, are more welcome: the download notification section displays estimated download times, it's now possible to toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity from the notification screen without having to enter a separate menu, and sound notifications for charging have been made less jarring.

For those who don't use LTE or ad-blocking software, the update is available now by going to the Nexus 4's Settings menu, About Phone and choosing Check for Updates.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Smartphones Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Smartphone Reviews HTC Windows Phone 8S Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Nokia Lumia 620 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Sony Xperia U Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £182 Google Nexus 4 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £0 Apple iPhone 5 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £529 Latest Smartphone News HTC M7 release date, features and price rumours Qualcomm details Quick Charge technology - almost a year after launch iOS 6.1 lock screen bypass discovered, Apple working on a fix iPhone 5S release date, features & price rumours Motorola X Phone already impressing industry executives Samsung Galaxy S4 could launch alongside smaller S4 Mini Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now on sale in the US Android 4.2.2 rolling out for Nexus smartphones and tablets iOS 6.1.1 released for iPhone 4S to fix 3G connectivity bug Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; We'll be updating this article in the future, and we expect a lot more information to come out as we approach the launch this year, as the industry will then have little reason to protect sales of current-gen devices and software.

There's an awful lot of rumours pieces online, all of them picking over the titbits of supposedly leaked information. Having read practically every such rumour there's frankly not a lot of solid information to go on. Rather than pick one rumour over another, we'll be looking at the most probable scenarios, discussing what they would mean to you the gamer, and supporting them with quotes where needed.

Most websites are still referring to the device as the PlayStation 4 or PS4, and you'd have to be a fool not to have it in the running as the final name come release day. However, two other names have surfaced: Orbis and Thebes. Most sources seem to think that Thebes is the internal codename for the Sony PS4 project, while Orbis is potentially the final name for the console. No one knows for sure though – after all, the Dreamcast was once Katana, the Gamecube was Dolphin and the Xbox 360 was Xenon

The Dreamcast was codenamed katana, so maybe Orbis is just a codename too

There are clues though, it could be that after naming its new handheld console – Playstation Vita, rather than PSP2 – that Sony has a taste for something new sounding and Orbis could well be the final name for the new console. Then again, maybe it was just because the PSP was rather a disappointment for Sony in most territories. For now we'll be calling the console PS4, because it's quicker to type.

[UPDATE] - Sony has put out a video, which sets the 20th of February as the date for some kind of huge announcement. Read PS4 expected to debut at Sony's February 20th gaming event for more information, and watch the video below from Sony's official YouTube channel.

Nothing is stated explictly, but from the tone of the video we're certain that this will be the PS4 unveiling, Leaving E3 open to publishers to show off their games, and for Sony to talk prices and precise release dates.

We'll be updating the rest of this release date section as we get more info.

We might have a reveal date for the PS4, but no release date has been leaked from a reputable source, it's a matter of piecing together information from the usual sources to make an educated guess. Such sources include developers (who will have development kits to start on launch games), publishers (who need to know what games they'll be selling and when) and of course leaks from within Sony itself.

E3 seems to be a safe bet for console unveilings, but there's no evidence

Website Kotaku claimed that a reliable source told it that the console will launch for late 2013. Which will be good news for PlayStation fans - though maybe not those in the UK if a European release is staggered back from Japanese and US launches - which is common for PlayStation products.

To support this idea, we recently heard that Sony PS4 could be delayed until 2014 in UK, developer claims. An unnamed developer talking to Edge magazine said that stock issues meant the launch would have to be staggered across the regions.

It's been widely-known for some time that the PS4 will be based around AMD technology, both for its CPU and GPU elements. A fact that's been discussed for some time: PS4 spec rumours - AMD A10 - a new approach or just plain wrong?. Given how much money Sony sunk into its Cell processor for the PS3 – to little apparent benefit – it makes sense for the company toswitch to an off-the-shelf design for this generation.

AMD has proved itself most capable at producing decent processors at a reasonable price of late, it's also shown that its can combine CPU and graphics elements on the same chip – essential for producing a console at a low price. Its PC graphics parts have long impressed us too. There's no doubt then that AMD would make a good hardware partner for PS4.

As to the nature of that hardware, the bottom line is fairly obvious. Any next generation console must be able to run graphically detailed games at 1080p and 60fps, and preferably also cope with the processing overheads of 3D as well.

What is unusual is that both the PS4 and the next-gen Xbox are now widely believed to use very similar hardware. With both having the same 8-core 1.6GHz processor inside and a GPU based around 7-series hardware, likely to be akin in power to a card like the AMD Radeon HD 7850.

The PS4 is widely understood to have just 4GB of memory, however all that memory is a single lump of super-fast GDDR5, making it easy to access and develop games upon. This is different from the Xbox 720's more complicated memory architecture, which looks to be 8GB of slower memory with a small fast cache. The former looks better for graphics performance, while the latter might be superior for running multiple apps at once.

In terms of the GPU, the PS4 looks to have 50% more compute units than the Xbox 720. Some of these may be reserved for 'compute' functions, though these could still be used for special graphical effects and physics calculations. Even considering this, the PS4 looks, at present to have the graphical edge over its rival.

Blu-ray is a must for PS4, the PS3 came a little too early for Sony to comfortably include the hardware, but it still pushed ahead with it at great cost. These days, Blu-ray is one of the defining parts of the PlayStation brand and we can't see it being dropped. All the usual unattributed sources touted by major gaming sites agree with this.

Sony filed a patent late last year that could mean the PS4 won't play used or second hand games. The patent, US Patent Application 20130007892, describes "a game playing system [including] a use permission tag provided for use in a game disk for a user of a game, a disk drive, and a reproduction device for reproducing the game." Essentially, this means that a device similar to an RFID or or near-field communication (NFC) tag built into the game disc would tie it to a particular console or console user.

Second-hand sales are a serious problem for the games industry - in some ways, even more so than piracy, with none of the money going to the publisher or developer. By blocking second-hand sales, Sony thinks that a high percentage of those who would have purchased the game second-hand will instead pay full price.

Many current generation games come with single-use codes that let the original owner download extra content, while digital distribution services like Steam, Xbox Live Arcade or the PlayStation Network tie purchases to a single user account.

Sony's proposed system goes significantly further: once a game disc is inserted into a console featuring the patented technology, it would be permentantly tied to that user or console. If the disc is sold, the game could either be a demo version limited to a specific section or a pre-set number of plays and requiring the purchase of a code to unlock or - if Sony goes the whole hog - simply not work at all.

The shape of the PlayStation controller may have been iconic once, but it's now a makeshift one, with the thumbsticks simply clamped to the bottom of the original PS1 controller. With analogue control now key to gaming, rather than an optional extra as it was when the Dual Analog/Dual Shock controller launched back in 1997, the design is well overdue an overhaul.

The PlayStation controller is showing its age

A recently leaked snap of a PS4 development kit has given us a good look at what is probably a prototype model of the new joypad - at least we hope its a prototype as it looks pretty cheap and nasty at present, like a cheap third-party Dualshock knock off.

The controller shown has a small touchpad above the analogue sticks and a coloured light on the front. In this repsect it looks to include functionality we've seen on both the Vita (which has a rear touchpad) and in Sony's motion-based Move controllers. A speaker is also built-in, allowing for local audio effects and a headphone socket too - probably for headset use, but we're hoping for Bluetooth audio for easier headphone use while playing - very handy for split-screen gaming.

In addition, it appears that the console may have upgraded motion controls, with Sony hiring a top executive with Kinect experience from Microsoft. You can read more about that in Sony hire suggests PS4 motion control plans. Furthermore, we recently reported that the PS4 could get dual-camera HD EyeToy bundle at launch, giving it a beefed-up motion-sensitive control system in combination with its new controller.

There's very little doubt here, as there's little space for manoeuvre. The PS4 will have HDMI output, built-in Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port and that's probably that. We suppose there might be a card reader or an S/PDIF output, but they are hardly essentials these days. Given that Sony will likely be keen to maintain compatibility for older controllers, Bluetooth we likely remain as well – as that currently is used for all PS3 controllers.

Sony is keen enough to sell 4K sets it is giving away content on a hard disk with them to watch

One website, BGR, has claimed that PS4 will support 4K video resolutions. With Sony keen on the Ultra HD TV format, we can see no reason why this wouldn't be true. Playing 4K video shouldn't be too taxing for a next-gen console and the HDMI 1.4 support the resolution required – up to 4,096×2,160p at 24 Hz, the same as in digital cinemas. We'd be very surprised if it couldn't manage this, though the big question is how such content would be supplied.

HDMI 1.4 will also bring support for Ethernet channel, so it would be possible for your PS4 to provide a network connection to your TV via HDMI, which would cut down on cabling for those with supported TV sets.

[UPDATE] EA's Chief Financial officer, who probably knows what's what, has said PS4 and Xbox 720 are likely to lose backwards compatibility. This is due to both differences in CPU architecture for both machines compared to their predecessors, plus the inevitable costs in developing and adding backward compatibility to the console. Far better for publishers to re-release favourite games, either as downloads, or in enhanced editions.

Next-generation games are certainly in development, as Dave Cook intelligently argues in his piece The dog track: Q1 and the next-gen countdown. The sheer lack of big releases pencilled in for the middle of next year shows that something is afoot – all those developers must be working on something, they just can't say what.

Team Bondi, of LA Noire fame, is working on a next-gen title

One company has broken ranks, with Team Bondi of LA Noire fame saying that its upcoming game – the delicately titled, Whore of the Orient – will be launched on PC and "next generation games consoles". Unfortunately the game has no release date announced, so there's only so much you can read into that. Fans of the studio can be certain though, that their current console will not run the company's next game.

It's very hard to put a price on a console as the manufacturers often sell them at a loss, especially to early adopters, in order to get the ball rolling. They make the money back on game sales and online content later. The PS3 was rumoured to cost Sony some $900 dollars to make upon launch, despite that Sony sold it for around $600.

Competition is also a big deal, with companies often forced to price match rivals. So whatever Sony's plans may be, they could be radically affected by Microsoft's or even the success or failure of the Wii U.

Now there are rumours that: PS4 likely to cost $400, according to Japanese sources. These say that the PS4 will cost at least YEN40,000, which translates to at least $400, which in turn works out to at least £310 in the UN including tax.

Now all this speculation is well and good, but the comment in the Japanese press was from an unattributed source, and no it's not any more accurate simply because the source comes from Japan.

Then there's the exchange rate problem. The console was designed in Japan, but the chips were designed in America, and all the parts were manufactured and put together in China. The Yen is a lot stronger against UK and US currencies now than it was when the PS3 came out - by almost 50% in fact. That could make the price higher than some are predicting, but the truly global nature of teh product makes this very hard to predict - even if you knew the Yen price for sure, it would be a guess to calculate a European selling price.

Going on historical facts, the original PlayStation sold for £299, as did the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation 3 price jumped up to a whopping £425. Adjust those prices by the retail price index and you get 2013 prices of - £471, £412 and £504 respectively. Thankfully electronics haven't risen in price in line with RPI, but you still get some idea of how hard Sony will have to try to bring in the console at a competitive £299 - which would be the sweet spot fans are hoping for.

As you can see, information on the PS4 is very thin on the ground. All this article can do is apply a little logic to the most prevalent rumours out there. We'll be updating it though as more information comes to light between now and the launch.
Author: Seth Barton

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8720225048083590225.post-18079292965479475102013-02-19T15:46:00.000-08:002013-02-19T15:46:00.405-08:00Intel IPTV set-top box in the works Intel IPTV set-top box in the works | Expert Reviews
Skip to navigation Home Laptops PCs Components Printers Digital cameras Photography Displays Networking Storage Audio Home entertainment Mobile phones Video cameras Software Gadgets Peripherals Tablet PCs Car Tech Home / Home entertainment / PVRs / News Login|Register Log In Your email: Your password:
Remember me

Create an account
RSS Feeds News | Forum | Store Windows Phone Kodak Printers Smarter Kuga Latest News Intel IPTV set-top box in the works Gallery Posted on 14 Feb 2013 at 09:58

Intel has revealed plans to get into the set-top box business with a consumer-oriented device designed for streaming video over the internet.

Intel already produces a low-power Atom CE processor range specifically for consumer electronics, but the company has until now limited its efforts to providing components, rather than retail products.

Speaking at the Dive Into Media conference earlier this week, Intel's Erik Huggers told attendees that his company will launch a set-top box into the market designed to connect to an Intel-powered internet video service, providing live streaming and on-demand content to users over their existing broadband connections.

The idea isn't new - the recently-launched YouView service works in the same way - but Intel's involvement is novel, at least. Previously, the company has shied away from getting its hands dirty at retail - but that is beginning to change, with the launch of its Next Unit of Computing (NUC) bare-bones PCs.

Unlike the NUC, however, the video streaming set-top box won't carry Intel's brand: Huggers explained that the company is setting up an entirely new brand name specifically for its video streaming venture, but without detailing exactly what that brand might be. The presence of the reassuring 'Intel Inside' logo, meanwhile, is all-but certain: the set-top box is expected to be based on the company's existing Atom CE processor range.

At the event, Huggers claimed that the set-top box will offer several unique features including an integrated camera with facial recognition capabilities to allow programming to be customised to the user - blocking children from watching unsuitable material, for example - while also allowing groups to connect their systems together remotely to watch and discuss the same programme, creating a 'distributed living room' experience.

Intel has yet to formally announce the device, along with pricing or availability, but is expected to launch the service towards the end of the year in order to compete with YouView's growing market share.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : PVRs Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest PVR Reviews Humax HDR-1000S Category: PVRs
Rating:
Price: £270 BT YouView Category: PVRs
Rating:
Price: £49 Samsung STB-E7500 Category: PVRs
Rating:
Price: £220 Humax YouView DTR-T1000 Category: PVRs
Rating:
Price: £299 HP Pavilion G6 Category: Laptops
Rating:
Price: £442 Latest PVR News BT YouView box free for new Infinity subscribers Sony announces Nasne PlayStation 3 PVR add-on Humax TV Portal to launch in January Project Canvas to launch as YouView in 2011 Humax announces Freeview HD PVR Freeview HD PVR on sale before World Cup Humax to fix faulty PVRs SagemCom launches RTI190 Freeview HD recorder Virgin Media offers HD with no monthly fee with new V HD Box Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; For a start, it's likely to render their back-catalogues of games useless.

Current-generation consoles, including Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360, offer some level of backwards compatibility with previous-generation titles. In the case of the Xbox 360, this comes in the form of a software-based emulator that allows the system to play a selection of the most popular titles from the original Xbox console; the PlayStation 3, meanwhile, was originally launched with the ability to play some PlayStation 2 games but had this feature removed to reduce costs - but still retains the ability to play PlayStation One titles. Nintendo's Wii, by contrast, can play almost all GameCube games - unless the buyer has opted for the Wii Mini model, which cannot.

This lack of compatibility is likely to extend across the entire next-generation ecosystem, Jorgensen warned attendees at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference this week. "An important thing to remember is that next-gen consoles will most likely not be backwards compatible, and if you multiplayer on a game, you'll most likely not be able to play with someone on a different generation."

That the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 could lose backwards compatibility should come as no surprise: rumours point to both using a vastly different system architecture than their predecessors, based on AMD's accelerated processing unit (APU) platform. It has also been foreshadowed by Nintendo's Wii U launch, which loses the Wii's ability to play GameCube games - although, unlike the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4, the Wii U can play last-generation Wii games without trouble.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft have commented on Jorgensen's claims, but with product unveilings expected in the very near future fans shouldn't have long to wait to see if they'll be needing to keep their last-generation console under the TV when they upgrade.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Games Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Game Reviews Aliens: Colonial Marines Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £29 Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £13 DMC: Devil May Cry Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £24 Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £35 Far Cry 3 Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £26 Latest Game News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Steam for Linux leaves beta, paves the way for the Steam Box PS4 touch-enabled controller possibly leaked ahead of launch PS4 could get dual-camera HD EyeToy bundle at launch Xbox 720 release date, specs & price rumours Xbox 720 may block second-hand sales with single-use game codes PS4 likely to cost $400, according to Japanese sources Sony PS4 could be delayed until 2014 in UK, developer claims Simcity review - Hands on Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; Now that it has made the jump to Linux, it supports all three major PC platforms.

Steam is a free download, available through the the Ubuntu Software Center. As the most popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu currently has more than 20 million users worldwide, with many currently forced to either dual-boot or run Windows in a virtual machine in order to play the latest games.

"The introduction of Steam to Ubuntu demonstrates growing demand for open systems from gamers and game developers," David Pitkin, Director of Consumer Applications at Canonical, said of the launch. "We expect a growing number of game developers to include Ubuntu among their target platforms. We're looking forward to seeing AAA games developed with Ubuntu in mind as part of a multi-platform day and date release on Steam."

To celebrate the release, Valve has discounted over 50 Linux-compatible titles available through the Steam marketplace, with 50-75% off until the 21st of February. Many Valve titles, including Half Life, Counter Strike 1.6, Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2 are now fully playable on Linux, with TF2 players receiving a free in-game item the first time they log in through Linux.

As well as games, Steam for Linux also includes the newly introduced Big Picture mode, the full-screen interface designed for TVs - seen by many as the first step towards having a Steam games console in the living room.

More details regarding Steam for Linux, including community discussion and official announcements, are available on the Steam for Linux Community Hub.
Author: Tom Morgan
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Games Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Game Reviews Aliens: Colonial Marines Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £29 Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £13 DMC: Devil May Cry Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £24 Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £35 Far Cry 3 Category: Software
Rating:
Price: £26 Latest Game News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours PS4 touch-enabled controller possibly leaked ahead of launch PS4 and Xbox 720 likely to lose backwards compatibility, according to EA PS4 could get dual-camera HD EyeToy bundle at launch Xbox 720 release date, specs & price rumours Xbox 720 may block second-hand sales with single-use game codes PS4 likely to cost $400, according to Japanese sources Sony PS4 could be delayed until 2014 in UK, developer claims Simcity review - Hands on Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; Since then, the company has been integrating it into the power management circuitry of its tablet and smartphone products. Devices with the feature are already available in the market - making us question why Qualcomm chose today to make the announcement.

According to Qualcomm, the LG-manufactured Google Nexus 4 smartphone, which uses the company's SnapDragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, already includes Quick Charge 1.0, along with other handsets including the HTC One S, the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920, the LG Optimus G, the US version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 - but not, sadly, the international model - and numerous other devices listed in the official announcement.

In each case, Qualcomm claims the technology reduces the time it takes to charge the device from flat to full by up to 40 per cent. The only smartphones and tablets with Quick Charge at present use Qualcomm processors, but the company is also working on a stand-alone circuit which connects to the USB connector on any rechargeable device - the progress of which could be indicated by today's announcement.

With the often poor battery life of modern smartphones being one of their biggest drawbacks - an unfortunate by-product of powerful multi-core processors and large touch-screen displays - technology like Qualcomm's Quick Charge will become increasingly important and we wouldn't be surprised to see the system used in the majority of devices launched this year.
Author: Gareth Halfacree
Email to a friend Print this article Get more reviews, tutorials and in-depth advice, every month with Computer Shopper.
Click here to try 3 issues for £1 < Previous News : Smartphones Next > Be the first to comment on this article You need to Login or Register to comment.
Title: (optional)
Comment:

Find a review
advertisement
Most Commented News PS4 release date, specs & price rumours Latest Smartphone Reviews HTC Windows Phone 8S Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Nokia Lumia 620 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £216 Sony Xperia U Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £182 Google Nexus 4 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £0 Apple iPhone 5 Category: Smartphones
Rating:
Price: £529 Latest Smartphone News HTC M7 release date, features and price rumours iOS 6.1 lock screen bypass discovered, Apple working on a fix iPhone 5S release date, features & price rumours Motorola X Phone already impressing industry executives Android 4.2.2 update blocks Nexus 4 LTE hack Samsung Galaxy S4 could launch alongside smaller S4 Mini Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now on sale in the US Android 4.2.2 rolling out for Nexus smartphones and tablets iOS 6.1.1 released for iPhone 4S to fix 3G connectivity bug Sponsored Links .storeWidget { background-color: #FFF; We also measure efficiency at 83.1 per cent at 100 per cent load, 86.32 per cent at 50 per cent load and 85.38 per cent at 20 per cent load. This is at least one per cent more efficient at each load than the supply's specification.

This power supply is at least one per cent more efficient than its certification

Unfortunately, it's not a modular supply, so all of the unused connectors will clutter up your case and make cable management a little bit harder. There are plenty of power connectors for most PCs with three Molex and six SATA for storage. There are two 6+2 pin PCI Express power connectors, which will support any high-end graphics card.

A 120mm fan provides cooling for the PSU, but it was very loud at high loads and potentially quite distracting. In fact, it was one of the noisiest power supplies that we've tested.

The GX 550W is certainly a capable PSU, which performed well in our tests and has a long warranty. However, the Be Quiet! Pure Power L8 530W costs around the same, has modular cables, is as efficient and is quieter. It's the better choice at this price.
Prev Next

WwW.totalwap.info - Free porn gallery download, sex, pornhub, 3gp
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
